Tangi,31/8 , (Utkal Bureau): The roof leaked while the house was not yet ready. Today is certainly an ever-memorable day for Tangi. After being declared a Notified Area Council, Tangi celebrated its first Self-Governance Day, but it is learnt that the intellectuals of the Tangi area were distressed due to many irregularities. On this occasion, after Khordha MLA Prashant Kumar Jagdev was welcomed and escorted into the office premises with a felicitation, the National Flag, which had been arranged upside down, fell to the ground while being pulled and adjusted before it was hoisted by him. As a result, the MLA expressed his displeasure. As the Self-Governance Day was being celebrated for the first time, the intellectuals of this area were neglected in the invitations, while a handful of elected representatives from other panchayats supported by the MLA and women from self-help groups were given priority, whereas the number of men was negligible. Although the Khordha District Information and Public Relations Department had informed media representatives to cover and disseminate this news, no special arrangements were made for the media representatives. Instead of celebrating this Self-Governance Day, an event resembling a political party meeting was organized here. Intellectual circles have condemned BDO Rumana Jafri, who was in charge as the Executive Officer, for turning such an extremely joyful day for the people of the Tangi area into one marred by errors and lapses.
