Tangi, 4/12(Utkal news7): The lives of two farmers were killed in an elephant attack. Two farmers went to the field to protect their crops as the storm was coming. The two dead farmers were Lakshmidhar Behera (70) of Bariko village, Tangi Block, Ramchandrapur Panchayat, Khurda District. And another one, Krishna Chandra Pradhan (65 years) of Periorad village, was terrorized by 3 wild elephants near Bariko village of Tangi forest last night. As people gathered to protect the paddy fields, Lakshmidhar Behera of Bariko village and Krishna Chandra Pradhan of Pari Orad village joined hands to protect the farmland.The two were sitting near the farm when a herd of elephants attacked them. As a result, both of them died in the farm. Krishna Chandra and Lakshmidha were late in returning home, so the local people searched for them. This morning, people dumped their dead bodies in the farm. They are still lying in the farm. People blamed the forest department's negligence and demanded compensation for the loss to the families of the deceased.Police and forest department officials reached the spot and started investigation and sent the body for autopsy.
