Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the second entry gate of Cuttack Railway Station.


Bhubaneswar,7/12,(Utkal News7): The Minister of Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the 2nd entry gate of Cuttack Railway Station this evening, marking an important milestone in the redevelopment of the station under AMRUT Station Scheme. This new entry, along with the station building on the eastern side, is set to improve passenger traffic, provide modern facilities, safety and services.

The 2nd entry gate has been designed to provide seamless movement for passengers coming from National Highway side, making the station more accessible for commuting and ensuring easy access. The Rs 303 crore development is part of a high-end project that aims to transform Cuttack railway station into a modern transport hub with world-class facilities.

Shri Vaishnaw spoke on the importance of this development in strengthening passenger growth and enhancing connectivity in the region. He pointed out that the project will help in socio-economic growth by enhancing trade and commerce and will make Cuttack railway station a major hub of the region.

The main features of the 2nd entrance station building are:

Air Conditioned Enclosures: The 21,270 square feet air conditioned enclosures ensure a comfortable environment for the passengers.

Modern Amenities: The food court (2,100 sq ft) includes modern toilets, ticket counters, waiting area, escalators, lifts and other facilities.

Easy Movement: Equipped with easy movement friendly escalators and lifts, catering to all passengers including Divyangjan.

Improved Passenger Amenities: Wide circular area, parking and pickup / drop-off facilities for easy access to the station.

Additional services: Promoting local handicrafts made by women Self Help Groups, Pradhan Mantri Bharat Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK) features like ATM Kiosk, Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM) and One Station One Product (OSOP) Trolley. The second entrance of Cuttack station has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 14.63 crore which is part of the station redevelopment plan under AMRUT station scheme. The second gateway and station building project will fulfil the long-pending demand for better connectivity in the region. The new infrastructure is expected to streamline station operations and improve passenger movement, safety and travel efficiency. The station will serve passengers not only from Cuttack but also from adjoining districts like Paradip, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Badamba, Narsinghpur and Niali. With a focus on passenger comfort and safety, this development is set to become a model for redevelopment of railway stations across the country.
