Sundargarh, 12/09 : An instruction arrived via e-mail, and the bank account details were changed. In the blink of an eye, approximately Rs 1.85 crore was transferred from the account. Due to the prompt action of the Sundargarh Cyber Police, Rs 1 crore 14 lakh 88 thousand 63 rupees and 52 paise was recovered. In this major cyber fraud case carried out through business e-mail compromise, Sundargarh Cyber Police arrested an accused from Uttar Pradesh. M/s Govindam Projects Private Limited of Sundargarh had fallen victim to this fraud. Cyber fraudsters had sent a fake e-mail posing as an authorised person of the company. As a result, the company's bank account details were changed. Subsequently, through two RTGS transactions, Rs 65 lakh 57 thousand 436 and Rs 1 crore 19 lakh 88 thousand, totalling Rs 1 crore 85 lakh 45 thousand 436, were transferred to a suspicious account. In connection with the incident, Case No. 08/2026 was registered at the Cyber Crime and Economic Offences Police Station. During the investigation, the police traced and froze more than Rs 1.14 crore. After the SDJM Court's order, the necessary procedures were completed and the money was returned to the company's account. During the investigation, the involvement of Zuber alias Zuberji alias Zubair Khan (26), from Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh, came to light. With the assistance of the UP Police, he was arrested on September 9. Two mobile phones, SIM cards and other documents were seized from him. The accused was brought to Sundargarh on September 12 on transit remand and, after a medical examination, was produced before the SDJM Court. Investigation is continuing to apprehend the other accused involved in the incident and recover the remaining money, Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasad Mishra informed at a press conference held today at the district police office. Cyber Police Station Officer Mukesh Sahaney was also present with him.
