Tamil Nadu: In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Joseph Chandrasekhar Vijay has assigned specific departments to the ministers in the cabinet.
The Chief Minister has kept important departments such as Home, Police, and Women & Child Welfare under his control.
As per the list of departmental allocations, Chief Minister Vijay is responsible for General Administration, Home, Revenue, Police, Special Programme Implementation, Women Welfare, Youth Empowerment, Child Welfare, Welfare of Senior Citizens and Differently-Abled Persons, Municipal Administration, and Urban and Water Supply.
Senior minister K.A. Sengottaiyan has been assigned the Finance Department. He will look after finance, pensions, and allowances in the new government. The youngest minister, Selvi S. Keerthana, has been given the Industries Department and will also be in charge of investment promotion, making her a notable figure in the cabinet.
The assignment of a major department to a woman minister has drawn attention in Tamil Nadu's political circles.
N. Anand has been appointed as Minister for Rural Development and Water Resources. His responsibilities include rural development, panchayats and panchayat unions, poverty alleviation programmes, rural credit, and irrigation projects, including minor irrigation. Aadhav Arjun has become Minister for Public Works and Sports Development. He will manage public works, including buildings, highways, and minor ports, along with sports development. Dr. K.G. Arunraj has been given the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department. P. Venkataramanan has been appointed as Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and will handle consumer protection and price control. R. Nirmalkumar has been assigned the Energy Resources and Law Department. His responsibilities include electricity and non-conventional energy development, law, courts, prisons and anti-corruption, legislature, governor’s office, elections, and passports. Rajmohan has been given the post of Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information, and Public Relations. He will also be in charge of archaeology, Tamil as the official language and Tamil culture, film technology and cinematograph laws, newspaper regulation, stationery and printing, and government presses. Dr. T.K. Prabhu has been assigned the Natural Resources Department and will manage minerals and mining.
