Two stolen tractors recovered:Thief arrested.



Banpur: Banpur and Nachuni police jointly conducted an investigation and recovered two stolen tractors from the Junagarh area of Kalahandi district. They also arrested Mohammad Rahim alias Abdul alias Pupun of Benapanjari village under Jatni police station on charges of theft. Police informed that raids are being carried out at various places to arrest other accused involved in the incident.

For the past few days, a tractor theft gang had become active in the Banpur area. On the night of April 1, a tractor belonging to Muna Swain was stolen from near his house in the Hadakhai area under Nachuni police station. Later, on the night of April 22 of the same month, another tractor was stolen from the Banpur area. In this regard, Nachuni and Banpur police registered two separate cases and started investigations. As per the instructions of District Superintendent of Police Vivekananda Sharma, a police team was formed under the supervision of Balugaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Kumar Pattnaik and led by Banpur IIC Jay Prakash Parida and Nachuni IIC Bibhuti Bhushan Mahapatra. Raids were conducted at various places to recover the stolen tractors. By tracking the GPS device installed in the vehicles, police investigation revealed that professional vehicle thief Mohammad Rahim alias Pupun of Bena Panjari village under Jatni police station was involved in the theft. Based on Pupun’s information, police successfully recovered both tractors from an abandoned place in Junagarh.

Police have also received information about Pupun’s other associates and are expected to arrest them very soon. This information was given by Banpur IIC Jay Prakash Parida and Nachuni IIC Bibhuti Bhushan Mahapatra during a press conference held on Saturday evening at the Nachuni police station premises.
