Puri : A tragic incident occurred today at the Puri Shree Jagannath Temple amid a heavy crowd and pushing while devotees were waiting for darshan of Mahaprabhu. An elderly devotee who had come for darshan has died. While it is being widely discussed that he died of suffocation due to the heavy crowd, the police, however, have said that it was a heart attack-related death.
There was a massive gathering of devotees in the temple premises today. The crowd was so large that a situation of pushing and shoving arose during darshan. Amid this crowd, elderly Nilakantha Babu suddenly fell ill and collapsed. He was immediately rescued and taken by ambulance to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital. However, doctors there declared him dead. It is learnt that Nilakantha Dash's home is in Alarpur village of Jajpur district.
