Bhubaneswar : Odisha Lok Bhavan receives Green Building recognition . Odisha Lok Bhavan has received the prestigious Green Building recognition as the first Lok Bhavan in the country . At a special ceremony at Lok Bhavan, the IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) chairman presented the Platinum Green Campus certificate . The certificate was awarded for notable initiatives in energy conservation and environmental protection, it is learnt .
Scoring 88 out of 100, Odisha Lok Bhavan has set a new benchmark as India's first Lok Bhavan to receive the Platinum certificate. This recognition reflects Odisha's commitment to building sustainable governance infrastructure and climate-responsive public institutions. Lok Bhavan has received this honour for integrating sustainability into campus planning, infrastructure and day-to-day operations.
The Lok Bhavan campus has adopted various initiatives such as energy-efficient systems, use of renewable energy, water conservation, biodiversity protection, scientific waste management, sustainable mobility and residents' welfare . Expressing satisfaction over this achievement, Governor Dr. Haribabu Kambhampati said that all universities in Odisha should become green campuses. Thousands of students are studying on the campuses, and inspired by this, they will follow it. The Governor said that this certificate demonstrates Odisha's commitment to responsible governance, proper utilisation of resources and a green future.
